Will Illinois Challenge Obamacare?

Governor Quinn does not seem to think the billions in unfunded Medicaid liabilities will be an issue for Illinois. This despite the threats to lay off teachers and a prisoner dump implemented as a cost-saving measure to reduce our ever-burgeoning $13 billion budget deficit.

On the other hand, several of our Illinois Congressmen have signed a letter urging Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan to join in the multi-state lawsuit challenging the health care legislation.

Impact of Obamacare – What to Expect

Health care reform was not really about lowering costs, was it? Even Sen. Dick Durbin is finally admitting this. Now that the government takeover has been signed into law, expect higher insurance premiums and additional deficit spending. Here is a good summary of the immediate impacts.

Look for a renewed push on a public option before the next (and hopefully more sane) Congress is sworn in next January. Yes, that is right. The public option will be back. It is every progressive Democrat’s dream and they are not going to give up on it. That is how the ultra liberal House members were bribed into voting for the more moderate (although still Socialist) Senate bill. They were promised more health care legislation would follow. It has already started. Be warned. And be ready. Round 2 is coming.

What Do Doctors Think of Obamacare?

Not very much that is good, it seems. Nearly half of the doctors may be forced to call it quits if health care reform passes. Even the President’s own cousin dislikes Obamacare. But how can this be? The American Medical Association endorsed health care reform! Turns out they represent fewer than twenty percent of doctors. And the AMA has a vested interest in seeing the legislation showed through. Are you surprised?

Deficit Neutral? PUH-LEASE!

More artful accounting is being used in the latest Congressional Budget Office scoring of the health care legislation. Well, at least they scored the pieces of Obamacare that exist today. Tomorrow is another day. More pieces and more budget estimates. But if the next estimate jacks up the cost too high, we will just sweep it under the rug and pretend it does not exist. Shhhh…

Legislative Tricks – Shell Bills, Health Care and Now an Education Takeover

Reconciliation is not the only back-handed legislative trick being used to ram through health care. Shell bills are also proving to be a hot item.

This is the exact tactic that was used to introduce the Senate version of health care late last year. According to our Constitution, bills that appropriate money MUST originate in the House of Representatives. But the Senate bill didn’t, did it? Well, technically, yes, it did. If you think like a corrupt politician, that is.

Lets put on our Crony Caps and walk through this. Late last year, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid took an appropriations bill that had already passed the House but had been sitting for months collecting dust in the Senate. That bill was HR 3590, originally titled Service Members Home Ownership Tax Act of 2009. Mr. Reid dusted this thing off, gutted the entire contents of the bill and added in an amendment consisting of the entire text of the Senate health care bill. Voila! We have a Senate health care bill – an appropriations bill – that originated in the House of Representatives! All without the messy and time-consuming process of having to dissect and vote on the existing House health care bill. HR 3590 no longer had anything to do with the original purpose but that is alright, we still have on our Crony Caps. We are all good.

Fast forward to today. This tactic is being used again to ram through the reconciliation “fix” for health care (as if there were such a thing but I digress). The deadline for submitting a reconciliation bill to committee was last October 15, 2009. So how can they create it if the deadline already came and went? Well, put on your Crony Caps again. Now lets go on a treasure hunt to find another bill that was submitted before October 15, 2009 but has been sitting collecting dust. Gut it, put in whatever text you want, in this case the entire reconciliation text and voila! We are all good again. See how that works? Rules mean nothing.

Sadly for us, the Democrats are now free to add in a whole lot of other things that have nothing to do with health care. And that is exactly what they are planning on doing.

I urge each and everyone of you reading this to CALL your Representative and Senators. Let them know you are aware of what is going on. And let them know this is not the transparency we were promised. And they are far from being the most open, honest or ethical Congress ever.

Cronyism in the Senate Bill

So you know about the three big bribes-for-votes that helped push through passage of the Senate bill last Christmas Eve, the $300 billion Louisiana Purchase , the Cornhusker Kickback and Gator-Aid. Well, there is plenty more. Find out here.

But, but, we were told the special deals would be removed from the final version, though, right? Guess again.

A bill Americans don’t want passed with bribe money sourced from our own pocketbooks. Our tax dollars used against us. This is democracy?

Protest 3/16/10 at Melissa Bean’s Schaumburg Office

One more call to action for those against the government takeover of our health care system. Rep. Melissa Bean (D-IL), 8th district, is listed as a “likely yes” vote on the latest whip count. Lets remind her that she works for us, not Pelosi. Let your voice be heard during a protest against health care on 3/16/10 at noon. Location is Rep. Melissa Bean’s Schaumburg office, 1701 E. Woodfield Rd., right across from Woodfield Mall. Bring your signs, family and friends.

You have two ways to participate:

Join your fellow constituents in front of her office. If you have never done something like this before, it is a great way to connect with people that feel the same way that you do. You may even meet some of your neighbors. Make a sign and bring it with or just show up. Numbers are what count!
Honk Against Health Care if your time is limited or you just want to make some noise. Download a sign for your car or make your own.

VERY IMPORTANT. This protest occurs during regular business hours, which means Melissa Bean’s office is open and staff is available. PLEASE take a few moments while you are there and go up to suite 200 to leave Ms. Bean a personal message with your thoughts on the health care bill and her potential vote in favor of it. If you have friends or family members that were not able to attend the protest, have them call ahead of time and inform her staff that you will be speaking for them as well.

Lets send her a strong message that we do not approve of the health care bill itself nor the heavy-handedness, backroom deals, bribes and complete lack of respect shown towards the American people and our Constitution during negotiations on this $2,500,000,000,000 march towards socialism.

Health Care Adding Speed To The Fiscal Train Wreck

Understanding number crunching and bean counting is not an exciting pass time. Fortunately, most Americans are now becoming somewhat familiar with the concepts of budget deficits, out of control spending, etc. However, the sheer size of the numbers involved make it difficult to truly appreciate the total impact that programs like Health Care, Cap and Trade, and the various stimulus bills will have on our economy and the future of our children.

Power Line has some charts and details regarding the necessity for stopping the lunacy. Health Care is not about our health. It is about ultimate government control of our lives, and it will bankrupt us in the process. We are headed for dependence and servitude if we continue to ride this train.

If We Are Betrayed, The Real Fight Will Begin

Information seems to go back and forth on this issue as to whether or not Pelosi has the votes. Gateway Pundit pretty much sums up the reality but, unfortunately, DC seems to be utterly divorced from reality at this point. Let us keep up the pressure & not give up out of sheer exhaustion.

If this bill passes, it will be a huge betrayal of the American people by those sent to DC to look after the interests of the people, and then the real fight will begin! We cannot/will not tolerate disregard of our Constitution by a shadow government which is so intent on pushing its own agenda that it appears cares not one iota for the very nation it purports to serve.

The Slaughter Option

Will it ever stop? House leadership (using the term loosely) is looking at a way to pass the Senate version of the health care bill…without any votes. That is not a typo. Without. Any. Votes. Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) is trying to craft a rule for the House to automagically consider the Senate bill passed. That would spare certain Democrats politically difficult votes. The House would have to agree to pass the rule, though, which would, um, require a vote.

Earth to Congress…small problem. If you vote FOR the rule, it will have the exact same affect as voting FOR health care. Wow. That really sounds like the logic and reasoning you get from a three year old. I didn’t put muddy hand prints all over the wall. I just held Mr. Snookie Bear and HE put muddy hand prints all over the wall! I didn’t vote for health care reform. I just voted for the rule and the RULE passed health care reform!

And these people are making laws for the rest of us? I think it is either time for them to GOOOH. Or we FLIP this House.
